Community Mental Health and Counseling
Course Description
This course explores the principles and practices of community mental health from a Christian counseling perspective. Students will learn about community mental health systems, prevention strategies, and the role of counselors in community settings. The course examines the challenges of providing mental health services in Kenya's communities and the integration of Christian and professional approaches. Through case studies and community projects, students will develop skills in community assessment, program development, and mental health advocacy. The course emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity and biblical values in community mental health work.
