Pastoral Theology and Care
Course Description
This course focuses on the principles and practices of pastoral ministry, with emphasis on pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual formation. Students will learn about the shepherd model of ministry, pastoral visitation, crisis intervention, grief counseling, and spiritual direction. The course emphasizes disciplined approaches to pastoral work using biblical and theological foundations. Students will work in teams to develop a comprehensive pastoral care program for a local church. Topics include pastoral ethics, self-care for ministers, and the integration of psychology and theology in pastoral care. The course also addresses the professional and ethical responsibilities in pastoral ministry. By the end of the course, students will have the skills and knowledge to provide effective pastoral care in various ministry contexts.
